Assassin's Creed Shadows recreates feudal Japan's Sengoku period as a vast open-world action RPG, following both a shinobi assassin and a legendary samurai whose paths intertwine. The world reacts to the seasons, with snow, rain, and shifting foliage changing both the look of Japan's countryside and how stealth and combat play out across castles, villages, and shrines. Social stealth returns alongside series staples like eagle-eye scouting, now paired with a more grounded, weapon-driven combat system for Yasuke's encounters.
